Carnauba wax is a wax of the leaves of the palm Copernicia prunifera, a plant native to Brazil, which grows only in the states of Ceará, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte. Usually the wax is extracted in the form of hard brownish flakes. It is obtained from the leaves of the carnauba in a process that involves beating them to release the wax, followed by its refinement.
